There are numerous events that lead to the fruition of this project. Many more than are mentioned here, but these 3 are key. They are in no particular order as they all motivated and inspired me equally.
- I have always been in the professional hair care industry it has changed drastically over the years.
- The marketing and depth of products available has become way too complicated.
- Some brands have over 20 shampoos, multiply that by how many brands there are, and I’m sure you will agree it has gotten out of control.
The original objective of professional hair care was to provide a product to the consumer that was better than the off-the-shelf brands and only available from the salon. Now, professional brands and quality are available anywhere.
It has become a competition to who can build the brand to a point that a large conglomerate wants acquire them and take it into the retail environment. This defeats the whole purpose of being a professional product, and leaves stylists frustrated after building the brand.
I truly believe that hairstyling is an art. The tools and products you use contribute to the work you do, but at the end of the day, a stylist must know how to create a style and modify it to suit the client they are working on. If they can’t do that, all the tools and products in the world won’t help.
